Malibu on Saturday? Leaving 7am from mine.

I'm in. Bringing the speaker.

Can someone grab me in Silver Lake?

Same message. Only one of these is readable.

Private by default. Not a setting.

Runs in your browser on any computer or phone.
Built on an open standard
Your address also works in other XMPP apps, like Conversations and Monal.

What our server can see

Every messenger's server knows some things. Here's exactly what ours does and doesn't, so you don't have to dig through a policy.

Can't see

  • What you write
  • Photos and files you send
  • What's said in your groups

Can see

  • Your username and who's in your contacts
  • Which groups you're in
  • When you're online
  • When messages are sent, and roughly how big they are
  • Whether a file is a photo, video or document, but not what's in it or what it's called

Start in a minute

  1. Open the app

Works in any modern browser. Add it to your home screen if you like.

  2. Pick a username

No phone number, no email address.

  3. Share your address

    Friends add you as you@this-domain.
